Flagbjarnarholt efra - Icelandic Quality Horses

Breeding goals

Svenni, Péturs youngest brother. One of Flagbjarnarholts most dedicated horseman, here on his old stallion and competition horse in 4-gait and tölt: Tónn frá Torfunesi.

The goal of the breeding in Flagbjarnarholt is to breed the best of the Icelandic horse. We want  big, strong,  beautiful and graceful horses with long mane and tail and many variable of colours. The Icelandic horse has 5 gaits and we want to breed horses with all of them, with special emphasis on the tölt, good mind and form under rider. The Icelandic horse is known for it's gentle temper, that is the corner stone of it's popularity. This good temper gives people with different kinds of riding experience  the opportunity to enjoy horses. That is why we only use mares and stallions with good temperament.

We also put great ambition in training the young horses, where we take care of most of it ourselves. We take the foals inside around Christmas and take care of them until the weather gets better in the springtime. We use this time well and train them a little so they are better to handle later on. When they are 4 years old we train them mostly ourselves, but some horses we send to training over shorter or longer periods.
